In 2013, famed violinist Joshua Bell was joined by composer and virtuoso bassist Edgar Meyer to give the Florida premiere of Meyer’s new Double Concerto for Violin and Double Bass with the Frost Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Sleeper.

In 2013, Festival Miami celebrated its 30th anniversary season began in grand style with multi-Grammy-winning international megastar Gloria Estefan performing highlights from
her latest album, Gloria Estefan: The Standards, arranged and orchestrated by Frost School Dean Shelly Berg.

Christian McBride Trio

In 2013, bassist extraordinaire and multi-Grammy-award winner Christian McBride had been one of the most important and omnipresent figures in the jazz world for 20 years...and he wasn’t even 40 yet! 

Black Violin

In 2015, Black Violin, an exhilarating violin/viola hip-hop duo, wowed audiences with their unique take on classical music. Their music incorporated their many musical influences from classical, R&B, and soul to rock and beyond.

Raquel Sofia

In 2015, Raquel Sofía, B.M. ’09 made her Festival Miami debut in a high-energy concert that showcased her jazz-infused vocals and sonic style, which ranges from rockabilly to ska to ’80s pop-rock. 

Emily Estefan

In 2017, Singer-songwriter Emily Estefan eschewed stereotypes and societal expectations through thought-provoking originals, cool harmonies, and world rhythms on her debut album, Take Whatever You Want (Alien Shrimp Records/Sony Red). She took a unique spin on some
well-known popular music and hear selections from her entertaining YouTube Channel.

Livingston Taylor

In 2011, singer-songwriter Livingston Taylor brought together the pure joy of performance with professionalism gained from decades of experience. He filled his concerts with upbeat storytelling, a joyous selection of his own writing, and a perfect splash of tunes from the great
American songbook.

Festival Miami

From 1984 to 2017, Florida’s Premier Live Music Festival provided world-class musical programming across genres. Guest artists included Jon Secada, Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, Ben Folds, Gloria Estefan, Bruce Hornsby, Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Willy Chirino, and many others who graced the UM Maurice Gusman Concert Hall stage. In 2017, Festival Miami transitioned into a year-round concert series now known as the Frost Music Live Signature Series.  For more information click here.
